Firstly, mygmrs.com has fantastic pricing, a great GovX discount for Military and First Responders, and lightning-fast shipping. They won my business from now on. I purchased two Btech GMRS Pro Radios after much deliberation and research into the “best” (affordability and function) GMRS radio. I have used them on a camping trip and around town because we have no cell service in the middle of nowhere, Northern New England, and as emergency family communication. This radio's real-world simplex range in the forest is around two miles. With a repeater, the real-world range is approximately 5 miles, depending on terrain features; I had a fantastic range atop a 2,000-foot mountain two weeks ago. I have had extensive experience using much more expensive public safety radios. I have to say that this radio's construction, durability (IP rating), and overall ease of use are on par with high-end radios. Programming is a breeze with the GMRS Pro App, and there appears to be a growing community of users. I hope Btech incorporates a mobile radio into this system. The Btech GMRS Pro radio isn’t a cheap Chinese Radio (yes, I know it’s made in China), and it's not an astronomically priced Motorola. It sits squarely in the Goldilocks zone of form, function, and price. I can trust this radio in the field and won’t cry if it breaks. My only complaint is that the K connector on my radios will not securely hold a mic. Meaning I need to order the Btech blue tooth model. Call me a fud, but I’m not too fond of having another piece of equipment to keep a charge on and ensure it’s connected properly. That being said, I highly recommend this radio. I have a YouTube channel, Downeast Gear Review, and at some point, I will do a complete review after a month or so of use.

I used to use the old Garmin Rhino radios for military survival school refresher training, and miss the GPS on the screen - I grabbed one of these to see if it compares, and it should do a whole lot better. (I Hope).
-- Note : to the ones stating that you have to have a GMRS license just to talk on channels 1-22 -- you are WRONG. The FCC changed that YEARS ago and combined FRS/GRMS - A GMRS license allows you to use higher power and legally transmit on Repeaters. You do NOT require a GMRS license just to use these radios on CHs 1-22 -- they are the SAME as any Walmart walkie talkie (more or less) but have more power. So if you don't want to get your GMRS license, simply program these radios on the lowest power setting and hope for the best. :)
