FAQs
-
What is the reach of this radio?
At 5 Watts, this radio can easily reach up to 5 miles, depending on the terrain.
-
What type of batteries does the radio use?
The GXT67 Pro radio comes with a rechargeable internal battery that can be charged using the desktop charger or the vehicle power adapter. The desktop charger and USB-C cable are compatible with industry-standard PD (power delivery) and quick-charging USB-C AC wall adapters. The battery may be charged while the radio is either on or off, but charging will take more time with the radio on.
-
Why is the battery not customer-replaceable?
As an IP67 rated radio, the GXT67 is waterproof and dust-proof. The battery compartment being factory sealed keeps it completely waterproof and protects the radio in that way. The other reason, not proprietary to our radio, is the use of the Li-ion battery, which are widely favored for their high energy & power density, long life, and low self-discharge rate. The expectation is that the battery will last for the life expectancy of the radio which, like any consumer electronic device, will eventually need replacing. However, these radios, and the batteries, have an expected serviceable life of several years, and Midland has a warranty policy to provide even more confidence in their life expectancy.
